The 155 visa offers a 5-year facility if the applicant spent 2+ years in Australia within the last 5 years, or a 1-year facility with demonstration of substantial ties to Australia. The 157 provides a 3-month facility for those with at least 1 day in Australia before their travel facility expired.

Must have spent at least 1 day in Australia before the current travel facility expired.
Must currently hold or have previously held permanent residency or citizenship.
Must pass character requirements.
Cannot apply if permanent residency has been cancelled or a cancellation notice has been received.
