The program uses a random selection process for 3,000 positions distributed equally across eligible nations (Fiji, PNG, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Vanuatu, and others). Selected applicants have 120 days to submit a complete application and must secure employment with an Australian employer.
Must hold citizenship of an eligible Pacific Island nation or Timor-Leste.
Must be 18–45 years old.
Must be chosen through the random ballot process.
Must present a valid employment offer from an Australian employer.
Standard health and character assessments apply.
Any outstanding debts must be repaid or covered by a repayment arrangement.
