The 461 visa permits family members of NZ citizens (holding Special Category Visa subclass 444) to reside and work in Australia for up to five years. Medicare access is not included unless reciprocal healthcare agreements apply — private health insurance is mandatory.
Applicant must not be a New Zealand citizen.
The NZ citizen sponsor must hold or will hold a Special Category Visa (subclass 444).
Must be a partner or eligible dependent child of the NZ citizen sponsor.
Standard health and character requirements apply.
Must provide proof of private health insurance if not from a reciprocal healthcare country.
Any debts to the Australian government must be repaid or subject to a repayment agreement.
