The 173 serves as a stepping stone toward the permanent 143 visa. After lodging the 143 application onshore, a bridging visa permits residence in Australia during processing. The 143 processing window currently extends beyond 12 years.
Must have a child or children residing in Australia as a permanent resident or citizen.
At least 50% of children or stepchildren must be settled permanent residents or citizens. No waivers available.
Child sponsor must be a settled permanent resident or Australian citizen.
