The 186 is a two-stage process: employer nomination first, then individual visa application. Streams: Temporary Residence Transition (for existing 482 visa holders with 2+ years employment), Direct Entry (requires mandatory skills assessment), and Labour Agreement. SAF levy: $3,000 (company revenue under $10M) or $5,000 (over $10M).
Generally must be under 45 years old.
Competent English proficiency required.
Mandatory skills assessment required for Direct Entry stream applicants.
Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent in the occupation within the last 5 years.
Must be nominated by an employer through an approved nomination application.
Standard requirements apply. Government debts must be repaid.
