The 189 operates as a points-based system: obtain a positive skills assessment, lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect with a minimum 65 points, receive an invitation, then apply within 60 days. Applications are accepted from inside or outside Australia.
Must have experience in an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List.
Positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority required.
Must lodge an EOI via SkillSelect with a minimum of 65 points.
Must be between 18 and 44 years of age.
Competent English proficiency required.
Standard health and character checks apply. Government debts must be settled.
